For some reason the silly phrase “Crickets Playing Croquet” kept running through the mind of author Bret Ridgway. So, he sat down at his computer one day to see if all the new AI tools could be used to create a colorful cartoon image of crickets playing croquet. And, lo and behold, the following image was created.

Hmm, he thought, I wonder what other fun animals playing games I could come up with? So, he began creating additional cartoon images like hippos playing hide and seek and more and the book “Games Animals Play (When We’re Not Looking)” began to take shape.

Bret had previously written several business books about speaking and book publishing but now he had grandchildren. He wanted to create a fun to read book that would be his legacy with his young grandchildren and that other parents or grandparents could share with their young children.

So, 26 colorful cartoon pictures were created covering each letter of the alphabet and a rhyming two-line poem was written to accompany each picture. Then, fun facts for each of the animals featured in the book were created to add an educational component to the book.

“Games Animals Play (When We’re Not Looking)” will be just the first book in the brand new Laugh and Learn Library. Upcoming titles include “What Animals Dream,” “What Animals Drive,” “More Games Animals Play” and “Animals at Work.”
